Worth of Earning Degree in Public Health

Public Health professionals concentrate on prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disease that affects an individual or a society. People having interest in the field of medicine and social work should think of pursuing a career in public health. There are many career opportunities for people who have acquired a degree in public health. They can work at the administrators, educators or researchers.

Some public health specialist work in isolation at the administrative levels like HMO offices, pharmaceutical companies, private and government health care agencies and hospital supply organization. At community level they may become infection control practitioner, city health planner, epidemiologist etc.

Some become an educator and propose and execute effective health education programs and strategies in a particular area. Public health educators get employed in different health related organizations like consumer advocacy organizations, hospitals, state legislative committees and social welfare organizations.

Another option is be a public health researcher and focus on issues concerning underserved population. He has to gather information regarding those issues and create effective strategies to resolve them. He does research on effects of toxic waste, drug therapies, psychological and behavioral changes, cancer epidemiology and others.

One can even become Public health Administrator or a nutritionist. So you see career in public health is very bright and diversified. There are ample job opportunities with high pay scale in the field of public health.
