Online Accounting Degree Career Guide

Career in Accounting offers thought provoking and challenging jobs that is constantly evolving. The importance of the field cannot be overlooked as any company cannot be run effectively and successfully if they do not have the accountant personnel and the separate accounts department in the firm.

Field of accounting uncovers many hidden skills of students which they represent when they get an opportunity to expose themselves. It improves and enhances the logical thinking skills, analytical abilities, solid computer skills, creativity and the communication skills. Students who possess these qualities having interest in accounting field make their career bright by indulging into it.

There are three categories of accountants first is the Certified Public Accountant (CPA); for this one must have the bachelors’ degree in accounting to be the part of CPA. They are responsible for public and private auditing, accounting, litigation and tax advisory services. This degree has been certified by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Second is the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) who is responsible for doing auditing functions, specifically for employees rather than public. And the third is Certified Management Accountant (CMA) who is responsible for managing accounts, usually work for employers. They may also work for public but limited.

By studying accounting you will be involved in different roles according to your expertise. It opens up number of fields in which you can make your career. Field of accounting makes you multi talented, you would not only learn about the accountancy but auditing, budgeting, managerial accounting, tax and law compliance and the financial management as well. Students after having the degree become able to work in different sectors. Some go in public sector and work as government accountants and auditors. They maintain and examine that whether government agencies, private businesses and individuals are working fairly and according to laws and regulations. They are responsible for maintaining their records of taxation. Some go into the field of auditing, chief financial officer, compliance officer, budgeting officer, financial analyst, tax accountant, controller and forensic accountant etc according to their interest.

The aging of world is characterized by growing scarcity of resources, including both natural and unnatural. There is nothing surprising in this actuality, as it’s simply an obedience of laws of demand and supply which apply to nature as well. Simply putting, the demand is more and the supply is short. In other words, the world’s population is growing by leaps and bounds and our resources to cater to the needs of such escalating population are becoming insufficient with every passing day. With such budding gap between supply and demand, an ‘efficient’ use of every resource is also becoming very important and this efficiency demands identifying, recording, and evaluation of the use of resources. This is where accounting shows up to play its role of undeniable responsibility.

Currently accountants are fewer in number and there are plenty of jobs available in accounting field paying large sum of money. The field is expanding and the U.S Department of Labor’s bureau of statistics has found out that jobs in the field of accounting are expected to grow between 16 to 18 percent annually till 2014. Moreover around 5 million people will get job for the post of Accountants and auditors.
